What It Is
80億分之一 is a browser life simulation game about starting from a different place and living one fictional lifetime. The homepage randomly selects a country and initial circumstances, while the About page explains that the game can be started without registration and that progress is saved in the current browser.
Simulation Controls
- Choose whether the country is sampled from babies being born now or from the population of the current 8 billion people.
- Set an approximate life length of 30 minutes, 1 hour or 1 hour 30 minutes; the run can be paused or accelerated.
- Optionally select the country where you were actually born. That choice is stored only on the device and is used as a comparison point.
- Use the Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese or Simplified Chinese interface, and enable a gentler mode for descriptions of difficult scenes.
Life View
The generated birth card records a fictional name, gender, birth country, urban or rural setting, household wealth, parents, religion, life expectancy, under-five mortality and GDP per person. After starting the life, the dashboard follows age, health, happiness, knowledge and relationships, with a life log, life map, survival curve and country statistics. From age six, yearly focus areas can include education, work, romance, migration and treatment. The run also places other people born in the same second beside the main life for comparison.
Data, Sharing and Access
The site says its rounded estimates draw on UN World Population Prospects 2024, World Bank WDI, UNESCO UIS, UNODC and the World Happiness Report. A completed life can optionally be placed in Memorial with a fictional name, summary and short message; the About page says names and contact details are not retained. The game is free, intended for ages 15 and up, and is independent of 1in8b.life.
